The elderly care centre Nägeligasse is located in Stans at the foot of mount Stanserhorn. The project consists of three new buildings, which shall structure and rearrange the situation. The two smaller ones are situated directly at the Nägeligasse. They provide a gentle transition to the taller main building, which lays behind them. Being high enough to provide a fantastic view over Stans, the main building is still perfectly integrated into the city structure.
The arrangement of the three buildings is a homage to the traditional city layout, with its alleyways and squares. By doing so, an interesting connection to the surrounding area and a familiar environment for the residents is created. Details like the traditional shutter design and the simple but strictly structured facade enhance the familiarity of the complex. Nevertheless, it retains its own character.
The two buildings in the front are laid out for accompanied housing and include 18 2.5- or resp. 3 3.5- and 15 1-room apartments. The main building contains the administration, the infrastructure as well as three nursing departments. It offers both meeting areas and private space to enable a familiar lifestyle for the residents.
