Ruswil, as a former important market town and a rural community significant in Switzerland today, is proud of its beautifully retained village square in the centre of the village. The project entails three buildings, partly resting on a plinth floor, the end façades of which look bold or understated, depending on the particular situation. The slight overhangs in comparison to the plinth floor are due to the relevant position, creating thrilling views and local connections. The proposal entails a continuous shopping street to increase the attraction. Starting from the main square, there is an attractive network of footpaths linking various squares right to the large market square. In the northern part of the building, the staff rooms and the indoor deliveries from the major distributor can be found over the plinth floor. A varied range of apartments from small to large family apartments are grouped around the central, semi-private courtyard over the plinth floor. The buildings will be solid, conventional builds. The load-bearing façade walls are solid concrete or brick. In terms of design, the new buildings deliberately play with regional building elements, such as the folding shutters, the typical roof and building typologies of the place as well as plinth floor elements, such as entrances and shop windows.
